Study Design
SEHAT goals
Our overall goal is to study trajectories of mental health in India including children, adolescents, and adults of all age groups. We also aim to study changes in immunization, and primary healthcare utilization over a 16 month period from February 2022- June 2023.
Large sample, high frequency data
A strategic innovation is our partnership with the world’s largest household panel, the Consumer Pyramids Household Survey (CPHS), which collects data on economic and social indicators from a nationally representative sample surveyed three times a year since 2014. The CPHS panel currently includes over 174,000 households. The SEHAT project analyzes data from a new health module that CMIE administers to a quarter of the CPHS sample, creating a large, high frequency panel survey of health outcomes. Households interviewed for SEHAT are in 26 states of India. The SEHAT sample includes individuals from over 44,000 households.
The SEHAT health module was administered 5 times over the course of a year and a half to about 44,000 households. This data was collected in February, June, and October of 2022, and February and June of 2023. Some longitudinal analyses will be possible.
