Documentation

CMIE collects data on a number of health variables as part of its partnership with the SEHAT project.

While the overall research goals of SEHAT focus on mental health in the population, the data also includes information on health status (Activities of Daily Living), self-reported chronic illnesses, Immunization of new born and young children, as well as utilization of primary heath services. In addition, the main CPHS data also includes detailed data on household expenditures on healthcare, as well as insurance

Data Availability

Expected 2026

Our project is supported by the NIH through 2026. We plan to make data from the SEHAT project, with complete documentation, publicly available for free at the end of our project to facilitate further research. Given the complexity of the CPHS dataset, our documentation will include technical details on sampling, weights, procedures to merge with CPHS data waves as well as a practical guide for analysis.

Access to SEHAT data does not change the process for access to CPHS data – please visit CMIE for details on information about accessing CPHS and other datasets.
